About this artwork
A sleeping cupid is a chiaroscuro woodcut in blue-gray and black printed from two blocks by Bartolomeo Coriolano (1590–1676), dated 1645. The artist is catalogued as Italian. This reproduction is based on the copy in the The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the file offered here measures 2704 × 2162 px (2.5 MB). Catalogued under Prints and Renaissance, in landscape format. Archive Lane holds 25 works by Bartolomeo Coriolano, an Italian artist.
Bartolommeo Coriolano was an Italian printmaker during the Baroque period, mainly in colour woodcuts. His father, Cristoforo Coriolano, and brother, Giovanni Battista Coriolano were also woodcut printmakers, although there is some doubt over the actual relationship between Cristoforo and Bartolommeo Coriolano.
