About this artwork
An Old House, or The Musician's House, Bourges is an etching with drypoint; fifth state of five by Charles Meryon (1821–1868), dated 1860. The artist is catalogued as French. This reproduction is based on the copy in the The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the file offered here measures 1992 × 3169 px (1.5 MB). Catalogued under Prints and Realism, in portrait format. Archive Lane holds 447 works by Charles Meryon, a French artist.
Charles Meryon was a French artist who worked almost entirely in etching, as he had colour blindness. Although now little-known in the English-speaking world, he is generally recognised as the most significant etcher of 19th century France.
