About this artwork
Haarlem Boats in Amsterdam is an etching, engraving and roulette on ivory chine, laid down on ivory wove paper by Charles Meryon (1821–1868), dated 1850. The artist is catalogued as French. The source scan comes from the Art Institute of Chicago, and the file offered here measures 3000 × 1930 px (1.1 MB). It is filed under Prints and Realism, in landscape format. Archive Lane holds 447 works by Charles Meryon, a French artist.
Charles Meryon was a French artist who worked almost entirely in etching, as he had colour blindness. Although now little-known in the English-speaking world, he is generally recognised as the most significant etcher of 19th century France.
