About this artwork
Majo And Maja is a public-domain artwork by Eugenio Lucas Velázquez (1817–1870), dated 1842. The artist is catalogued as Spanish. The high-resolution file measures 2300 × 3064 px (4.2 MB). Catalogued under Figurative and Romanticism, in portrait format. Archive Lane holds 22 works by Eugenio Lucas Velázquez, a Spanish artist.
Eugenio Lucas Velázquez was a Spanish painter in the Romantic style, known for genre and costumbrista scenes which often featured fantastic elements. Nineteenth-century sources refer to him as Eugenio Lucas Padilla, which has caused some confusion, although it seems reasonable to assume that Velázquez was an adopted name.
