About this artwork
Receipt is a dark brown ink on coated ivory laid paper by Charles Meryon (1821–1868), dated January 23, 1865. The artist is catalogued as French. The original is held by the Art Institute of Chicago, and the file offered here measures 3000 × 1841 px (0.9 MB). You will find it among Drawings and Realism, in landscape format. Archive Lane holds 447 works by Charles Meryon, a French artist.
Charles Meryon was a French artist who worked almost entirely in etching, as he had colour blindness. Although now little-known in the English-speaking world, he is generally recognised as the most significant etcher of 19th century France.
