About this artwork

The source scan comes from the Art Institute of Chicago, and the file offered here measures 2858 × 2250 px (2.4 MB). It is filed under Prints and Realism, in landscape format. Archive Lane holds 447 works by Charles Meryon, a French artist.
Charles Meryon was a French artist who worked almost entirely in etching, as he had colour blindness. Although now little-known in the English-speaking world, he is generally recognised as the most significant etcher of 19th century France.
