About this artwork
The Two Horses is an etching and drypoint on tan wove paper by Charles Meryon (1821–1868), dated 1850. The artist is catalogued as French. The original is held by the Art Institute of Chicago, and the file offered here measures 1977 × 2250 px (2.2 MB). You will find it among Prints and Realism, in portrait format. Archive Lane holds 447 works by Charles Meryon, a French artist.
Charles Meryon was a French artist who worked almost entirely in etching, as he had colour blindness. Although now little-known in the English-speaking world, he is generally recognised as the most significant etcher of 19th century France.
