About this artwork
View of Library is a public-domain artwork by George Cattermole (1800–1868), dated n.d.. The artist is catalogued as English. The original is held by the Art Institute of Chicago, and the file offered here measures 3000 × 2005 px (1.8 MB). You will find it among Drawings and Romanticism, in landscape format. Archive Lane holds 16 works by George Cattermole, a British artist.
George Cattermole was a British painter and illustrator, his paintings chiefly in watercolours. Unusually for watercolourists of the period, most of his paintings are figure scenes, often interiors with a crowd of figures, illustrating scenes from history or literature, or just genre scenes in historical costume, and he "became the foremost British historical painter in watercolours".
