Fedor Grigoryevich Solntsev (1801-1892) was born a serf and died a professor at the Imperial Academy of Arts. Between those two facts lies half a century of patient recording: he travelled the Russian provinces documenting medieval regalia, armour, vestments, icons, manuscripts and architecture, and the results filled the six volumes of Antiquities of the Russian State. He also worked on the restoration of the Terem Palace in the Kremlin and on the decoration of several cathedrals. Much of what he drew has since been lost, destroyed or altered, which makes his plates a primary visual record of pre-Petrine Russia rather than merely a beautiful one. This archive holds high-resolution scans of his plates, free to preview and available as originals for printing.

Sizes are listed in inches and centimetres, with up to 26 sizes available depending on the print type, from small desk pieces up to large statement pieces. A size that doesn't match this artwork's own proportions is centred and trimmed to fit, and each print type's page states exactly how much of the image that removes.
Framed Canvas and Framed Print orders are available in 8 frame colours (Black, White, Natural, Gold, Walnut, Silver, Dark Grey, Light Grey); Canvas and Rolled Canvas have no frame and no glass.
