Herbert Morton Stoops was an American illustrator and painter who provided artwork for numerous magazines and books. Raised on a ranch in Idaho, Stoops began studying art formally while attending college in Utah before attaining employment with numerous magazines. He was especially associated with the magazine Blue Book, for which he frequently provided cover artwork for thirteen years. He often depicted Western and military subjects. Stoops was a 2009 inductee into the Society of Illustrators' Hall of Fame.
