About this artwork
La galerie Notre-Dame is an etching on paper by Charles Meryon (1821–1868). The artist is catalogued as French. The original is held by the Art Institute of Chicago, and the file offered here measures 1973 × 3000 px (2.9 MB). You will find it among Prints and Realism, in portrait format. Archive Lane holds 447 works by Charles Meryon, a French artist.
Charles Meryon was a French artist who worked almost entirely in etching, as he had colour blindness. Although now little-known in the English-speaking world, he is generally recognised as the most significant etcher of 19th century France.
